Dr. Mauri-Lynne Heller is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Psychoanalyst in private practice in the Newport Beach area of Southern California. 
 
Specialties: In addition to her general practice Dr. Heller specializes in creativity; men's issues; trauma; phase of life and human development issues and chronic illness, treating adolescents, young adults and adults; couples, individuals and small groups.
 
Education: A graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Pepperdine University and Newport Psychoanalytic Institute, Dr. Heller is a member of the Newport Center for Psychoanalytic Studies, where she is also on faculty and an active member of the Writing and Research Task Force and Speaker's Bureau. 
 
Writing and publications: A regular contributor to the online Health and Fitness and Blog Pages of the Orange County Register, her column, "Inside Out" uses current events to explore psychological issues from a psychoanalytic perspective and appears twice monthly. Her Inside Out Jounal weblog  launched in October 2009. 
 
Clinicians can look for her regular column in the online edition of The Therapist Magazine, published by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).  Column abstracts appearing in the print magazine will direct you to the full column posted online.
 
Professional consultation: Dr. Heller offers group or individual consultation to interns, students and licensed therapists seeking to deepen the nature of their clinical work.  She is also a writing/editorial consultant.
    
Choosing a therapist carefully is extremely important, so I've addressed issues you may want to consider.  I believe psychoanalytic therapy is the most potent and helpful therapeutic change agent available to you.
